Documentaire sur la géologie et la variété des espèces animales sur Terre. Pour autant que nos connaissances nous permettent de laffirmer, la Terre notre planète, est un cas unique dans lunivers. Même dans ses contrées le plus arides, on découvre la vie. Autour de lEquateur où la chaleur et lhumidité, ses éléments vitaux, sont particulièrement denses, on trouve de grandes forêts. Les plantes et les animaux y prolifèrent à tel point quon ne peut pas encore identifier toutes les espèces. Ici les animaux et les plantes, les insectes et les oiseaux, lhomme enfin, cohabitent dans des communautés intimes et complexes, dépendantes les unes des autres. Les deux tiers de cette planète unique sont recouverts par leau, où la vie a pris naissance. A partir des océans la vie sest répandue jusquau sommet des plus hautes montagnes. Plantes et animaux se sont adaptés aux différents milieux. Ils ont évolué au grès des transformations de la terre elle-même. Comment les animaux survivent dans les forêts boréales du nord? Comment la terre a été créée? Comment les montagnes et les volcans se forment? Ce documentaire vous montrera comment les volcans entrent en éruption.

Matt Parker is a stand-up comedian and mathematician. He appears regularly on TV and online: as well as being a presenter on the Discovery Channel. His YouTube videos have been viewed over 37 million times. Previously a high-school mathematics teacher, Matt visits schools to talk to students about maths as part of Think Maths and he is involved in the Maths Inspiration shows. In his remaining free time, Matt wrote the books Things To Make and Do in the Fourth Dimension and Humble Pi: A Comedy of Maths Errors. He is also the Public Engagement in Mathematics Fellow at Queen Mary University of London.

It’s always shining, always ablaze with light and energy that drive weather, biology and more. In addition to keeping life alive on Earth, the sun also sends out a constant flow of particles called the solar wind, and it occasionally erupts with giant clouds of solar material, called coronal mass ejections, or explosions of X-rays called solar flares. These events can rattle our space environment out to the very edges of our solar system. In space, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, or SDO, keeps an eye on our nearest star 24/7. SDO captures images of the sun in 10 different wavelengths, each of which helps highlight a different temperature of solar material. In this video, we experience SDO images of the sun in unprecedented detail. Presented in ultra-high definition, the video presents the dance of the ultra-hot material on our life-giving star in extraordinary detail, offering an intimate view of the grand forces of the solar system.
