Why is TV 29.97 frames per second?


I look at the historical quirks which gave us TV at 29.97 frames per second. In North America at least. Its a comfortable 25 fps in Europe.

Yes, technically, if you divide 4,500,000 by 286 you get a horizontal frequency of 15,734.26573 lines per second. That matches a frame rate of 29.97002997002997… and so old TVs used 30/1.001 = 29.97002997002997…

CORRECTIONS:
— A lot of people pointing out that increasing the number of horizontal lines without increasing the bandwidth would be a loss of resolution. Which is a good point.

На Гавайях обитают удивительные зеленые черепахи, которые могут вырастать до 3−4 м в длину и весить 400 кг. Чтобы сохранить этот вид, занесенный в Красную книгу, введено несколько запретов. Так, туристам запрещено приближаться к животным, отдыхающим на пляже, ближе чем на 100 м. Кроме того, нельзя выбрасывать в воду пластиковые пакеты, так как черепахи могут перепутать их со своей пищей – медузами.

Черная дыра съела звезду, как спагетти. Вот что увидели астрономы


Всем привет! Любите крутые факты о космосе? Хотите увидеть одно из самых значимых астрономических событий всех времен? Тогда мы с вами отправимся в Южную Америку! В пустыне Атакама, Чили, мы найдем самые передовые технологии для космических наблюдений. Здесь члены Королевского астрономического общества полгода наблюдали, как черная дыра поглощала массивную звезду. Кстати, это те же ученые, что доказали, что в центре Млечного пути находится сверхмассивная черная дыра. И даже сделали фотографию!

Представьте звезду размером с наше Солнце, около 1 390 000 км в ширину. Такие звезды весят достаточно, чтобы создать мощное гравитационное поле и удерживать на орбите множество планет. А теперь представьте огромную черную дыру рядом с ней. Дыра совершенно черная, имеет форму диска и весит в миллиард раз больше звезды. Сила ее гравитационного поля поражает воображение. Ничто не избежит ее силы тяжести. Даже если объект движется на скорости света, он все равно упадет в черную бездну. Сам свет и тот не может покинуть ее пределы. Итак, что произойдет со звездой, когда она окажется в гравитационном поле черной дыры?
